The first supermarket of the Bharti-Retail and Wal-Mart partnership in India, named 'Easy Day - Market' has recently been opened in Ludhiana, Punjab.
On 15th December, Bharti Retail unveiled it first supermarket in India, developed in collaboration with US grocery giant Wal-Mart.
The store, called Easy Day Market, was entirely designed by Fitch India as a celebration of the Indian homemaker. Providing for all family needs under one roof, Easy Day echoes some of the more familiar aspects of the traditional Indian marketplace, but in an environment that makes shopping a fun and stress-free experience, while adhering to the erstwhile Wal-Mart mantra of ‘every day low prices’.
The concept is based around the creation of power departments (including the live bakery, home-ware, health and beauty, and a kids zone) that offer dwell zones for the busy shopper, while promoting selected offers during the customer journey.
Opened by Mr Sunil and Rajan Bharti Mittal, with senior Fitch staff in attendance, the new store concept breaks the mould for experiential grocery retail in India, setting a new standard for an international shopping experience with a distinctly local flavour.
