FITCH 'Firsts' span the globe at Retail Design Institute’s International Store Awards
We’re proud to announce that our work for Ann Summers in London, Asian Paints’ Colour Store in New Delhi, and CityTarget in Chicago and Seattle won three First Place Awards at the Retail Design Institute (RDI) ‘International Store Awards’ ceremony on January 14 in New York. In addition, the Colour Store was honored with a Special Award for its innovative use of in-store technology.
“What a fantastic night for FITCH,” said Christian Davies, FITCH’s Executive Creative Director, Americas. “We’re very pleased to be honored with so many top awards, and it feels even more special because of the truly global nature of FITCH’s efforts.” No other firm at the awards ceremony could match FITCH’s geographic reach, with award-winning projects that span three continents.
These awards demonstrate that leading brands are investing in creative and groundbreaking ‘brick & mortar’ retail as the most direct way to strengthen consumer relationships, offering shoppers experiences that are possible only in stores. Regardless of the increasing digital options, FITCH’s 2012 Joy of Shopping study confirmed that people still overwhelmingly prefer to shop in stores.
The RDI International Store Awards competition, now in its 42nd year, celebrates exceptional retail design projects from around the world, and kicks off the National Retail Federation’s ‘Big Show’. As the industry’s only totally peer-reviewed competition, it is managed in turns by individual metro chapters. Entrants represent the full spectrum of store design in twenty competition categories—from department stores to manufacturer’s showrooms.
