Cockpit Arts supports extraordinary craftspeople making work in the UK. Winning a London Design Festival competition, one of the design teams at FITCH were treated to a special VIP tour for the London Design Festival this year.

Complete with cupcakes and champagne, we got behind-the-scenes demos and sneak previews of work by illustrators, glass blowers, ceramicists and paper engineers. The showcased craftmanship included Constructive Studio and Aimee Furnival of Another Studio for Design. Glass artist James Lethbridge wowed the group with his flameworking techniques, while ceramicist Loli Cardenoso created a bespoke piece for our lucky winner.
Cockpit Arts is an award winning social enterprise and the UK’s only creative-business incubator for designer-makers. Within their two buildings at Holborn and Deptford they offer a package of support that includes affordable studio space and tailor-made business training. Since they first started in 1986, they have helped thousands of talented craftspeople to grow their businesses, many of whom have gone on to achieve national and international success.
Go and see for yourself – the studios are open only twice a year to the general public for weekend ‘Open Studios’ shopping events, or you could book a private tour of the studios.
